Join a class

Most pediatricians will recommend a prenatal class by month 6 or 7 of your pregnancy. Prenatal education is especially important for first-time mothers. You learn about pregnancy, labor and delivery, and caring for a newborn. It's a great resource, and meeting other first-time mothers is also important for emotional support throughout this big change in your life

Nourish yourself

Take the time to take care of yourself when your body is going through this major change. Talk to your doctor about the healthy and nutrient-rich foods you need to support yourself and the baby. Make sure you take care of your mental health too - take time to relax to keep your stress levels under control.

Prepare for labor

You could argue that you'll never be prepared for a baby! But preparing yourself for labor can mean less stress throughout the process. You can prepare yourself physically with stretches and exercises your doctor recommends. Other simple things like packing a bag for the hospital ahead of time can save you some panic and stress.

Control the environment

During labor and delivery, there will be some things you can't predict or control. But putting some thought into the environment you're surrounded by could make things easier for you. Many women prefer a darker and quieter environment. If you can dim the lights or minimize noise, whatever helps you stay calm.

Communicate with your doctor

Labor and delivery will be done at St.Vincent Hospital Clay hospital in Middleburg. It is not the time to hold anything back! Every woman and every pregnancy is different so speak up if you have any concerns.
